Joliet Slammers Secure Comeback Win Against Schaumburg Boomers
The Joliet Slammers staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Schaumburg Boomers 7-5, completing a midweek road series sweep. The Boomers initially held a commanding 5-0 lead, thanks to Michael Gould, who hit two solo home runs and contributed an RBI double, alongside a powerful homer from Anthony Calarco. However, the Slammers began their rally with two runs in the sixth inning and tied the game with three runs in the seventh, which included a contentious play. Joliet continued to push ahead, scoring two more runs in the eighth to secure the victory. Despite the Boomers threatening in the ninth by bringing the tying run to the plate, they couldn't capitalize. Gould had an impressive performance, finishing 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs, extending his recent hot streak. Calarco also added two hits, increasing his league-leading RBI total to 53. The Boomers recorded nine hits overall, while Eric Turner pitched 5? innings, allowing two runs without earning a decision, and Aaron Glickstein took the loss in relief.
